We’re making some changes to the website! Unfortunately it’s no longer viable to have our entire shop stock available online. In due course you will however be able to purchase specially selected books by local authors as well as special editions and signed copies. You can also still purchase our fabulous Bespoke Book Subscriptions via the website!
If you’d like to get in touch with a stock query or would like to order something specific for collection from the shop, please do email us on shop@thevioletbookshop.co.uk or drop in.
If you’d like to order online for home delivery, you can support us by doing so via Bookshop.org and selecting us as your chosen independent bookshop! You can use our recommendation lists as inspiration and browse thousands of print and e-book titles.

My Bookshop Journey
My personal philosophy on books is that any and all reading – of any genre and in any format – is to be encouraged and celebrated. I also firmly believe that reading books and buying books are two different hobbies, which is where my preference for physical books and bookshops clearly stems from!
My name is Sian, and I grew up in Aberystwyth before moving to Upton upon Severn as a teenager in 2001. I studied English literature and dance at undergraduate level and then completed a Masters in Publishing more recently, all while working in the pastoral side of education. I took the leap into bookselling in January 2024, initially online only, and opened the bricks and mortar Violet Bookshop shortly afterwards in July.
